Mom & Dad makes music inspired by folk music, post-rock, 20th century minimalism, & jazz. Their music builds from simple melodies which evolve into lush layers of sound. There's a playfulness at the heart of the sound, balancing pretty motifs with open-ended improvisation, creating unique yet nostalgic songs. Largely (but not entirely) instrumental, Mom & Dad performs as a trio, consisting of Mooney (violin & vocals), Alek (keys & vocals), & Elliot (drums).
